TSA shares experience how families of poorer children might be helped for kindergarten

Despite the low fees, kindergartens are still unaffordable for a number of low-income families in Bulgaria. What is more, almost a third of the country's children live in poverty. In 2020, important amendments were made to the Law on Preschool and School Education, which gave municipalities the opportunity to support low-income families with the payment of kindergarten fees.

In view of the high public importance of these measures, the Trust for Social Achievement Foundation has taken an initiative for informing and supporting municipalities in finding the most effective approaches to help children from poorer families attend kindergarten. On April 27 and April 28 the TSA organized two discussions with the participation of representatives of the local government, institutions and civil society organizations. We believe that evidence-based policies ensure the best use of public resources so that every child in Bulgaria has access to more opportunities for learning and care.
