This project is part of the advocacy activities of We Care project.
This project is developed by Working Group (WG) “Security and Safety” of the following organizations: Crime Prevention fund - IGA", Initiative for Equal Opportunities Association and Hayatchi Association.
The problem identified by the WG is the high number of pregnant women and mothers with children aged 0-3 without address registration and identity documents. The aim of this project is to increase the opportunities for pregnant women and mothers of children aged 0-3 from the affected groups to obtain address registration and identity documents. Solving this problem will contribute to the improvement of maternal and child health among the most affected Bulgarian citizens from poor and vulnerable groups. Pregnant women, mothers and children will be given much better opportunities and will be able to benefit from the services of the health and social care system and to receive the health and social care they need.
The lack of address registration and identity documents is a serious problem which requires long-term work and efforts both from an administrative and legislative point of view, and in terms of building coalitions and form a positive public opinion and attitude to the difficulties experienced by many Bulgarian citizens and children in in a highly vulnerable position.
To achieve this, the WG developed a comprehensive advocacy strategy, based on several studies and analyses conducted by various organizations. The current project proposal is the practical implementation of this developed advocacy strategy.
