Continued Support for Roma Students at the American University in Bulgaria

Within this initiative, TSA, with the support of the America for Bulgaria Foundation (ABF) and individual donors, will support with 5 full scholarships Roma students admitted to the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG). We invest in the education of Roma students at AUBG, because we believe that there are enough good students of Roma origin to meet the high requirements of the university, but they do not have the opportunity to meet the costs necessary to study there.

The scholarship program for Roma students admitted to the American University in Bulgaria is a continuation of the extremely successful support provided by ABF and TSA to already graduated students of AUBG - for their effective preparation for entering the university and successful graduation.

Most of the scholarship recipients who have already graduated were the first in their families to attend university. All of them overcame tremendous obstacles to realize their dreams. AUBG has made a profound difference in the lives of each and every one of these scholarship recipients. Without ABF’s support, they would have never had the confidence, courage, or financial means to persuade their families that this path is possible and to pursue a degree at a university of AUBG’s caliber.

We believe that the investment in them will have a high added value not only for the whole society but also for the Roma community specifically.

Each scholarship is in the amount of the total amount of tuition fees for a period of four years, which will be allocated and awarded each semester by TSA to AUBG.
