12 Embracing Diversity training for teachers

Within three months TSA organised 12 trainings under the Embracing Diversity project focused on how to make educational environments and classrooms more welcoming and engaging to children, regardless of their ethnic origin.

The trainings were held in 7 towns across the country – Lukovit, Sevlievo, Targovishte, Shumen, Peshtera, Plovdiv and Sredets.

The trainings were attended by 280 people, who were mostly teachers and parents, but representatives and professionals of local municipal administrations and social institutions were also among the attendees.

The goal of the Embracing Diversity project is to create fairer and equitable societies. During the trainings teachers were given the chance to develop awareness for diversity, tolerance and stereotypes through practical tasks and exercises. Participants shared their personal experience, thus enhancing their expertise

The Embracing Diversity training project has been developed and implemented in Bulgaria by TSA following the same-name programme of the International Step by Step Association. The idea is to train pre-school and primary school teachers how to render educational environments more supportive to children of all ethnic groups, both academically and emotionally

We would like to thank our partners for conducting the said trainings – Knowledge Association, Social Dialogue 2001 Association, Club of Non-Governmental Organisations Association, Amalipe Center, the Crime Prevention Fund – IGA and Steps Academy.
