The Trust for Social Achievement received an award at the Global Women Leaders Forum 2025, “Fast and Furious Changing World. Women in the Driving Seat”, organized by the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria and the European Investment Bank.
TSA received the award for “An Inspiring Civil Society Initiative – NGO Contributing to Social Inclusion” for its Pathway to Home program, which supports families in informal neighborhoods in obtaining permanent legal status for their homes and gaining access to essential services.
“When people have a secure place they can call their home, real change begins — education, employment, opportunities. Housing security doesn’t just remove barriers; it opens a path forward. This recognition is a testament to the trust of the communities and to the change we already see where we work together,” Sarah Perrine, CEO of TSA, commented.
Some key results of the the Pathway to Home program include:
- Three detailed development plans (DDPs) have been approved — in Kyustendil, Dupnitsa, and Peshtera
- 1,221 homes have been legally regulated, covering approximately 6,105 residents
- 112 families have received legal consultations and forbearance certificates for their homes, granting them legal status
The program demonstrates tangible results and has the potential to be applied on a wider scale. The lessons learned can support the development of national policies to provide housing security for many more families in Bulgaria. The recognition the program has received is a clear sign that such an approach is both necessary and timely.
The Pathway to Home program is part of TSA’s long-term commitment to dismantling barriers for communities that often remain invisible and to creating conditions in which every person can realize their full potential.
