Today, April 8 – Roma International Day, the world remembers all Roma victims of the Holocaust. More than 500 000 Roma were sent into the World War 2 concentration camps and never came back. Due to the Nazi massacre many of the Roma were left orphans, widows, childless and traumatized for life.
Along with commemoration of the Roma Holocaust victims, the Roma honor their flag and anthem, which were endorsed at the First World Roma Congress in 1971. On April 8 Roma call for respect, equality and peace.
