Advocacy training within We Care project

In the course of three days, between 20 and 22 of June, over 45 participants took part in the training. They were introduced to international standards, strategic documents, and the institutional framework for ensuring a supportive environment for early childhood development. This was the third training of the Leadership Training Program “Modern Theories, Policies, and Practices in Child Development In Ages 0–3” under the We Care Project for improving maternal and child health in the Roma community.

The experts’ shared experience caused a lively discussion. Participants brainstormed solutions for a more effective, adequate support for families and children in vulnerable communities. The training also introduced the policies, services and interventions as part of a holistic framework for fully rounded care: good health, nutrition, early learning opportunities, stimulating care (responsible parenting), and social protection and security. The last day of the training was dedicated to pregnancy care and the stages of the child’s development from birth to 3 years. The participants reached the conclusion that good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy is crucial to the physical, mental, cognitive, social and emotional development of the child.

We Care Project is intended to expand participating organizations’ expertise in the field of advocacy for accessible and effective early childhood development services in the Roma community.
