Young Roma Teachers – Stars Association cohort 6 - 2023 - 2024

The main aim of the program is to provide possibility of building successful role models of Roma origin that will have a positive influence on the development of children at an early age. Thе project accomplishes this goal by supporting Roma, studying preschool pedagogy at the university and, eventually, starting work at kindergartens. This will allow for the increased participation of Roma young people in local and public life at local level, the improvement of the quality of education in kindergartens, and the strengthening of the relationship between parents and the kindergarten staff. Stars Association will be the lead organization on this project and will coordinate it at a local level, supporting 2 students in their university admission, supervising them, mentoring them, assisting them in developing a plan for volunteering initiatives and leading the process for their eventual hiring in two partnering kindergartens. Stars have already successfully worked on a YRT cohorts 4 project for the past years, so far successfully supporting 3 other Roma students, all of whom are still enrolled and will eventually be employed as teachers. Thus, apart from creating positive role models, this project is also creating employment and professional development opportunities for Roma.
