Areté Youth Foundation (AYF)’s project “R.O.L.E.S. Projects – Roma Opportunities for Leadership, Education, and Success V” is a national program that builds on previously funded projects by TSA to address the lack of educated professionals and leaders in the Roma community by supporting promising Roma youth to pursue higher education and careers in the public and private sector and thereby empowering them to be role models and give back to their community.
The overall approach of their programs will enable young Roma to acquire essential competencies, improve self-confidence, strengthen identity, achieve higher levels of academic success, develop social and practical skills, and promote social inclusion and active citizenship so that they can nurture their development into success stories.
In the long-run, it is expected that the project will contribute to a greater number of Roma university graduates and professionals, a network of Roma role models and volunteers, and the development and enhancement of a Roma youth movement.
Moreover, the supported youth will be encouraged to contribute to positive sustainable change in their own communities and promote a culture of volunteerism and reciprocity through leading by example.
The cross-cutting dimensions through which Arete will address the challenges are the following: Education; Employment; Volunteering; Civic Engagement; Youth Participation; Advocacy; Non-Discrimination; Gender Equality; Networking, Mentorship, Leadership and Role Modeling;
Directcly from Arete's activities will benefit 1270 Roma youth.
The project falls within the scope of the following priority areas of TSA:
- High school graduates.
- University graduates.
- Reciprocity/role models.
