The project builds on Center Amalipe’s experience in implementing an educational program in close to 200 schools during 2010-2013 with funding by ABF. Their comprehensive approach has aimed to reduce dropout and absenteeism rates, improve grades and high school enrollment of Roma students, increase parental engagement, and change teacher attitudes towards the education of their Roma students. The current project will take place in 170 schools and will reach 36 500 students. The project will give ground for the Amalipe to further develop more comprehensive measures in order to successfully implement the educational model in schools which experience challenges in appealing to Roma students and their parents. It is a major goal of Amalipe’s to lay the groundwork for future expansion of the program to a larger number of schools nationally.
